Adding warmth to the skin

As winter approaches our make-up habits change. Well at least mine do.

This winter I have been experimenting more and more with skin tone rather than just playing about with lip colour. Which makes a change as I always find my self becoming experimental with eye make-up and lipstick during the winter month but I don’t always give my face the rest of the well-needed attention. One product that I never really used to wear was blusher, I think part of this is due to the scary thought of putting something quite pink on my skin in fear of making it appear more pinkish in tone.

But my fears are behind me with L’Oreal le blush  in Rosewood which is the perfect warm tone for winter as I often find my pale complexion lacking the lift of the sun-kissed skin. This adds a warm rose glow to the skin which gives that (for lack of better description) loved-up glow. Another product I mind have been slow on the up-take with is powder, I never really got into it/saw the point since foundation gives a dewier finish. However I recently learnt that powder is great for setting foundation with, which solves the night-long problem of starting the night with foundation and finishing it with lack-off. I choose this Stay Matte powder in peach glow (oo3) by Rimmel as I wanted a powder that would add a bit of warmth to the skin and although it barely makes any difference to the finish of my foundation, I love the staying power that it adds.

I am still experimenting with achieving my ‘signature’ make-up look but I feel if I bring it back to basic’s I can then work into it with other products to nail my everyday make-up look.

Thank you IFB for Links a la mode selection

I have to say a big thank you to IFB I’ve been selected a few times for their links a la mode and each time I feel so happy with the gratitude. Sometimes its nice to know that you are doing something right. Which has got me thinking, I read many great blogs but rarely share them with you so I thought I’d do a monthly post of a blogger I have been loving. Not only will you discover someone new (and find out why I love them), I hope that they will get that sense of pride in being recognized. Kind of like a your doing great hug, keep it up. Let me know what you think of this idea.

Truly Gifted

It’s somehow sad that Thanksgiving always gets the shaft for the holidays. Not as much fun as Halloween, not as much religious/global/ gifting/commercial opportunity as Christmas/Hanukkah/etc… But alas, we’re all caught up in the holidays in the blogosphere. Between the gifts, the celebrations, the reflection of the year that’s about to end, there’s so much ground to cover! This week, we have a delightful round of holiday inspired posts to get you thinking about the rest of the year. Believe it or not… we don’t have that much time left.

Selected for IFB Links a la Mode

Its a beautiful evening and what better way to spend an evening than reading some amazing blog posts by some talented bloggers. I was getting my daliy doze of style bubble when I got lost in her post ‘Link Up’ which I definitely recommend as its a real eye opener to the number of blogs out there but also how every blog has there value. You can’t compare Glamour to Dazed and Confused but both of there followings are equally valid. She also has linked about 10 blogs which are well worth the read, sharing the love. This is one reason why I love IFB links a la mode it offers us less know blogs to have a voice and a chance to reach a wide audience. There is a real mix of blogs selected showing the diversity of the blogging world.

I want to say a big thank you for being selected because its a reminder that what I am doing is worthwhile. And I want to say a big thank you to my readership as you are the reason I keep going. Knowing you are there, reading my content which I have spent so much energy writing makes this so worth every hour I spent writing, taking, photo’s and editing.

Please do check out the blogs below they are well worth the read.

In August, Autumn often looms over us like winter does in Game of Thrones. You know it’s coming but it still seems so far off. Personally, I’ve already snagged by boots for the season, and jacket too! While bloggers are curating their fall wishlist, you can’t help to get a little bit excited, the lush fabrics, the layers the sophistication of the season. This week’s round up has links that will help you squeak the last days of summer as well as get you prepared for fall. So find a nice sunny spot to enjoy the weather, relax and read these links!

Is punk really back?

savagegemispunkreallyback

Punk is everywhere. You just have to flick through a recent copy of Elle or Vogue to see the influence. I wrote about this a couple of months back in my article “Punk’in it” where I ask “has punk fashion become a trend rather than a life style.” And the truth is it probably has just became a trend with its influences everywhere from studs to safety pins. One thing punk lends itself well to is updating old clothes and being them new life through anarchy.

Quick DIY ideas to nailing the Punk trend (Vote for your favourite in the comments)

  • Grab that denim jacket and some sandpaper; now start sanding.
  • Stud might be over done but its a quick way to rock up a T-shirt.
  • Create peekaboo detail through cut and safety pin loosely back together.
  • Paint that leather Jacket.

I’ll do a DIY tutorial for the one with the most votes, so be sure to let me to comment below.

Shoe Sunday – Tapping in Velvet and leather.

I have a shoe addiction. I’m sure I’m not the only girl or boy for that matter to say this. But its very much true, you just have to look at the bottom of my wardrobe to see how many shoes I have. I have more shoes than I can comfortable count. So every Sunday until I run out of shoes (which will be a while) I’ll post a pair on here to document.

Starting with these handsome black velvet and gold leather shoes by KG by Kurt Geiger

I brought these just before starting back at University from a shopping outlet for £33.00. It was quite frankly love at first sight. They are practical, smart and good looking. I like smarting up jeans by slipping in to these beauts. Or dress a lace dress down with a boyish tone. They are comfy and I know its always going to be good day when I tap my toes in these. When you say the words gold leather and black velvet in the same sentence it sounds like a disaster but sometimes things that don’t sound like they’ll go, do. And in this case they more than just go, its perfection.

What are your favourite shoes? What do you think of these shoes?
